Crispy deep-fried green beans paired with zesty wasabi-horseradish ranch dressing for the perfect appetizer.
Ingredients:
  • 0.5 cup buttermilk ranch dressing
  • 0.25 cup peeled, seeded, and finely chopped cucumber
  • 1 tablespoon milk
  • 1.5 teaspoons prepared horseradish
  • 1 teaspoon wasabi powder
  • 0.125 teaspoon salt
  • 1 pinch cayenne pepper
  • 4 cups vegetable broth
  • 0.5 pound fresh green beans, trimmed
  • 1 egg, lightly beaten
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1 cup dry bread crumbs
  • 0.75 tablespoon salt
  • 0.5 teaspoon ground black pepper
  • 0.25 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 0.5 teaspoon onion powder
  • vegetable oil for frying
Instructions:
  • Create a flavorful dip by blending buttermilk ranch dressing, cucumber, milk, horseradish, wasabi, salt, and cayenne pepper in a blender until smooth. Transfer the mixture to a small bowl and chill in the refrigerator to thicken.
  • In a saucepan, bring the broth to a boil over medium-high heat. Add the beans, cover, and simmer on medium heat until tender and bright green, about 8 minutes. Drain the beans in a colander, rinse with cold water, and let cool.
  • Prepare a breading station by filling three shallow bowls: one with beaten egg and milk, one with flour, and one with a mixture of breadcrumbs, salt, black pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder. Individually coat each handful of beans with flour, then dip in the egg mixture, and finally coat with the breadcrumb mixture. Arrange the coated beans on a plate.
  • Heat a generous amount of oil in a deep skillet or deep fat fryer until it reaches 350 degrees F. Fry a few beans at a time until they turn a golden brown color. Place them on paper towels to drain and cool. Serve with a horseradish-wasabi dip.
