Enhance grilled sausages with a quick spiral-cutting technique for maximum smoky flavor and caramelization. Skewer and cut for delicious results in no time!
Ingredients:
  • 2 (3.5 ounce) links Italian sausage
  • 1.5 cups water
  • 1 pinch salt
  • 2 metal skewers
  • 1 tablespoon barbeque sauce, or to taste
Instructions:
  • Simply sear sausages in a skillet over medium heat, then add water with a generous pinch of salt. Let it simmer covered for approximately 3 minutes per side.
  • 1. Allow sausages to cool to room temperature, then refrigerate until cold, for at least 1 hour. 2. Insert a metal skewer lengthwise through each chilled sausage.
  • Preheat the grill until it reaches a nice sizzle and give the grate a light oiling. Transfer the barbecue sauce into a small bowl.
  • Lay the sausage on a flat surface and slice diagonally about 3/4 inch from one end, rotating the sausage as you go to create a spiral cut. Stop cutting when you reach about 1 inch from the opposite end. Carefully fan out the sliced sausage on the skewer to make space between the curls.
  • Grill sausages until beautifully browned and cooked through, about 6 minutes, turning occasionally.
  • Generously coat sausages with barbecue sauce as they near completion. Grill, flipping occasionally, until the sauce forms a flavorful caramelized glaze, approximately 1 minute per side. Place on a plate and allow the sausages to rest for half a minute before carefully removing skewers for serving.
