Adorable sugar cookie topped with a spooky chocolate spider.
Ingredients:
  • 1 pouch (17.5 oz) Betty Crocker™ Sugar Cookie Mix
  • Butter and egg called for on cookie mix pouch for drop cookies
  • 1/2 cup from 1 tub (16 oz) Betty Crocker™ Rich & Creamy Vanilla Frosting (from 16-oz container)
  • 1/4 cup from 1 tub (16 oz) Betty Crocker™ Rich & Creamy Chocolate Frosting
  • 24 Reese's Peanut Butter Cups™ miniatures, unwrapped
  • 48 Betty Crocker™ Candy Shop candy eyeballs
Instructions:
  • Preheat oven to 375°F.
  • Combine cookie mix, butter, and egg in a large bowl, stirring until a soft dough forms. Shape the dough into 24 (1 1/4 inch) balls and place them 2 inches apart on ungreased large cookie sheets. Gently flatten each ball slightly before baking.
  • Bake for 8 to 10 minutes until just golden brown. Allow to cool on cookie sheets for 2 minutes, then transfer to a cooling rack to cool completely for about 30 minutes.
  • Transfer the vanilla frosting into a small resealable freezer plastic bag. Seal the bag partially and snip a small tip from one corner. Pipe the frosting in a spiral design on top of the cookie from the center outward. Then, pipe several lines from the center of the spiral to the outer edge to create a web design.
  • Fill a small resealable freezer plastic bag with chocolate frosting, seal it partially, then cut a small tip from one corner. Using the bag, pipe a small circle of frosting on a cookie. Place a peanut butter cup upside down on the frosting circle. Pipe 8 lines around the peanut butter cup for spider legs, then attach 2 eyeballs using small dabs of frosting. Repeat these decorating steps for the remaining cookies, referring to the photo as a guide.
  • Allow to sit at room temperature, covered with waxed paper between layers.
