Sweet dates elevate this chunky chutney to new heights.
Ingredients:
  • 1 tsp whole cloves
  • 300g fresh dates, pitted
  • 187.50 ml malt vinegar
  • 45.00 gm firmly packed brown sugar
  • 2.40 gm salt
  • 36.80 gm vegetable oil
Instructions:
  • Create a fragrant spice sachet by combining cinnamon and cloves in a piece of muslin, then secure it with kitchen string.
  • In a saucepan over medium heat, mix together dates, vinegar, sugar, salt, and oil. Add the spice parcel and cook while stirring.
  • Simmer the mixture on low heat, partially covered, for 20 minutes until the dates are soft and the mixture thickens. Remove from heat, let it cool, discard the spice parcel, and serve.
