Delicious date nut loaf with warm brown sugar sauce.
Ingredients:
  • 1 cup dates, pitted and chopped
  • 1 cup water
  • 0.5 cup butter
  • 1 cup white sugar
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1.5 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 egg, beaten
  • 1 cup chopped walnuts
  • 0.25 cup butter
  • 0.33333334326744 cup heavy cream
  • 0.5 cup brown sugar
Instructions:
  • First, preheat your oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C) and prepare a 9x5 inch loaf pan by greasing and flouring it. Then, in a saucepan over medium heat, bring dates and water to a boil. Add 1/2 cup of butter and 1 cup of sugar, stirring until melted. Once melted, remove from heat and stir in baking soda. Allow the mixture to cool for 10 minutes before proceeding.
  • Transfer the date mixture into a spacious bowl. Mix in the flour, eggs, and vanilla until well combined. Gently fold in the chopped walnuts. Pour the batter into the pan that you've already prepared.
  • Place the batter in the preheated oven for 50 to 60 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean. Allow to cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool fully before slicing and serving with Warm Sauce.
  • In a saucepan over medium heat, melt 1/4 cup of butter with cream and brown sugar, stirring constantly until the mixture boils and the sugar is dissolved.
