Bacon-wrapped dates with smoked almonds for a sweet and savory party snack.
Ingredients:
  • 20 wooden toothpicks
  • 0.25 cup reduced-sodium soy sauce
  • 0.5 teaspoon ground ginger
  • 0.75 cup dark brown sugar
  • 20 dates, pitted and left whole
  • 20 whole smoked almonds
  • 10 bacon slices, cut in half crosswise
Instructions:
  • Preheat the oven to 400 degrees F (200 degrees C), and soak toothpicks in a bowl of water while greasing a 9x13-inch baking dish.
  • Combine soy sauce and ground ginger for a zesty mixture. Set aside brown sugar. Fill dates with smoked almonds and wrap with bacon. Dip each bundle in the soy sauce mix, then coat with brown sugar. Place in a baking dish, optionally sprinkling more brown sugar on top.
  • Cook the bacon in the preheated oven until it turns golden brown and crispy, which should take around 15 to 25 minutes. Let it cool for 15 minutes before serving - enjoy warm or at room temperature.
