Make creamy Chinese dessert with steamed milk, egg whites, and sugar.
Ingredients:
  • 3 cups whole milk
  • 2 egg whites
  • 3 tablespoons white sugar
Instructions:
  • Divide the milk evenly between 2 bowls and cover each with aluminum foil. Set up a steamer by filling a saucepan with water below the steamer insert. Once the water boils, place the bowls in the steamer, cover, and steam for approximately 5 minutes until a skin forms on top of the milk.
  • Gently lift a corner of the milk skin and carefully pour the milk into a bowl, keeping the milk skin in the bowl.
  • Whisk together egg whites and sugar in a bowl; add milk and mix thoroughly. Return the milk mixture to the reserved milk skin in the 2 bowls. Cover with aluminum foil.
  • Steam the milk mixture until it is softly set, approximately 15 minutes.
