Soulful collard greens complement any dish, a must-have for your meal.
Ingredients:
  • 1 bunch collard greens, chopped
  • 1 (16 ounce) package hickory-smoked bacon, diced
  • 2 cubes chicken bouillon, crumbled
  • 1 cup water
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 0.5 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1 pinch ground thyme, or to taste
  • 1 pinch dried savory, or to taste
  • 4 teaspoons milk
Instructions:
  • Place collard greens in a pot filled with gently salted water, bring to a boil, then simmer on medium-low until tender, approximately 1 hour. Drain well.
  • Fry bacon in a large skillet over medium-high heat until crispy, for about 10 minutes. Pat dry on paper towels.
  • In a large pot over medium heat, melt butter. Sauté onion in the butter until tender, for about 7 to 10 minutes. Add bacon, chicken bouillon, water, garlic, oregano, thyme, and savory. Bring to a boil, then add collard greens and simmer for 5 minutes. Pour in milk, stir well, and continue cooking for another 5 minutes.
