Betty Crocker's new cake is a show-stopper with mini ice cream cones and rock candy sprinkles.
Ingredients:
  • 2 boxes Betty Crocker™ Super Moist™ Yellow Cake Mix
  • Water, vegetable oil and eggs called for on cake mix boxes
  • 2 tubs (12 oz) Betty Crocker™ Whipped Fluffy White Frosting or 1 tub (16 oz) Betty Crocker™ Rich & Creamy Vanilla Frosting
  • Neon pink liquid food color
  • 8 miniature pointed ice cream cones
  • Pink rock candy sprinkles or pink coarse sugar, if desired
Instructions:
  • Preheat the oven to 350°F (325°F for dark or nonstick pans). Grease and flour all four round cake pans, or use baking spray with flour.
  • Prepare cake batter according to box instructions in a large bowl. Divide 2 3/4 cups of batter into each 9-inch round pan and 1 3/4 cups into each 6-inch round pan. Bake 9-inch pans for 24 to 29 minutes, and 6-inch pans for 22 to 27 minutes until a toothpick comes out clean. Let cool for 10 minutes, then remove cakes from pans and cool completely for about 1 hour.
  • Mix frosting and food color in a large bowl until you reach the desired color. Spread a small amount of frosting around the open edge of each cone, then coat with sprinkles. Frost the tips of the cones and decorate with more sprinkles.
  • Trim the tops of the cake layers to create a flat surface. Place the first 9-inch layer on a serving plate, cut side down. Spread 1/3 cup of frosting on top of the cake. Add the second 9-inch cake layer on top. Frost the top and sides of the cake with the remaining frosting. Decorate the base of the cake with sprinkles.
  • Place the 6-inch cake layer on top of the frosted layers, cut side up. Spread 1/3 cup of frosting on top. Add the remaining 6-inch layer, cut side down. Frost the top and sides with frosting and decorate with sprinkles around the base of the cake.
  • Arrange the ice cream cones in a circle on the cake. Sprinkle the center of the cake with colorful sprinkles. Keep the cake loosely covered at room temperature.
