Homemade duck sauce: sweet, tangy plum and apricot dip for Chinese appetizers.
Ingredients:
  • 5 cups coarsely chopped mixed fruit (apples, plums, and pears)
  • 0.75 cup apple juice
  • 0.5 cup packed light brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon apricot preserves
  • 1 teaspoon soy sauce
  • 0.5 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 0.5 teaspoon dry mustard
Instructions:
  • Prepare your ingredients.
  • In a stockpot over medium-high heat, combine plums with 1 cup of water, apple juice, brown sugar, apricot preserves, soy sauce, garlic powder, and dry mustard. Stir well.
  • Simmer mixture, stirring often until brown sugar dissolves. Lower heat and simmer until fruit is very soft, approximately 40 minutes. Remove from heat and allow to cool for 30 minutes.
  • Blend the cooled mixture in a food processor or blender until silky smooth, adding more water if needed to reach your desired consistency.
  • Chill in the fridge until needed.
