Elevate your Thanksgiving apple pie with a touch of rich dulce de leche caramel filling for an unforgettable twist!
Ingredients:
  • 0.33333334326744 cup white sugar
  • 3 tablespoons cornstarch
  • 1.5 cups dulce de leche
  • 5 large baking apples - peeled, cored, and sliced
  • 1 (14.1 ounce) package pastry for 9-inch double-crust pie
Instructions:
  • Preheat the oven to a toasty 450 degrees F (230 degrees C).
  • Combine sugar, cornstarch, and cinnamon in a bowl until fully mixed. Incorporate dulce de leche, ensuring it is evenly distributed. Gently toss in apples until they are coated in the mixture.
  • Roll out the pie crusts on a lightly floured surface. Line a 9-inch pie plate with one crust, pour in the apple filling, and heap it in the center. Cover with the second crust, pinch the edges to seal, and make several slits in the top crust with a sharp knife.
  • Bake in the preheated oven until edges are golden, approximately 20 minutes. Then lower the oven temperature to 350°F (175°C) and bake until apples are hot and bubbling, 25-30 minutes.
