Delectable chocolate caramel oat bars.
Ingredients:
  • 1 1/2 cups Gold Medal™ all-purpose flour
  • 1 1/2 cups quick-cooking or old-fashioned oats
  • 1 cup packed brown sugar
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup butter or margarine, softened
  • 1 can (13.4 oz) dulce de leche
  • 1 cup toffee bits
Instructions:
  • Preheat the oven to 350°F. Combine flour, oats, brown sugar, and salt in a large bowl. Use a pastry blender or fork to incorporate the butter until the mixture resembles crumbs. Press 3/4 of the mixture into an ungreased 13x9-inch pan.
  • Bake for 10 minutes. In a 1-quart saucepan, gently heat dulce de leche on low heat for 2 to 4 minutes, stirring often, until slightly softened.
  • Smooth a generous layer of dulce de leche onto the partially baked crust. Sprinkle a generous amount of toffee bits and leftover crumb mixture evenly on top. Bake for 20-25 minutes until beautifully golden brown. Let it cool for 15 minutes before serving.
  • Gently slide a knife around the edges of the pan to release the bars. Allow them to cool fully for approximately 30 minutes. Then, cut the bars into 8 rows horizontally and 4 rows vertically.
