Australian caramel dumplings: Irresistible sweet treat, simple to make, perfect for dessert.
Ingredients:
  • 1.5 cups self-rising flour
  • 2 tablespoons confectioners' sugar
  • 0.25 cup butter, melted
  • 1 egg, beaten
  • 0.25 cup milk
  • 1.3333333730698 cups water
  • 0.33333334326744 cup golden syrup
  • 0.5 cup brown sugar
  • 0.5 teaspoon lemon juice
Instructions:
  • Combine flour and confectioners' sugar in a bowl, create a well, pour in melted butter, egg, and milk. Stir with a knife until just combined. Set aside the dumpling mixture.
  • In a large saucepan over medium-high heat, combine water, golden syrup, brown sugar, and lemon juice until fully mixed. Stir in the remaining 1/4 cup of butter and bring to a boil. Drop heaping tablespoons of the dumpling mix into the sauce once it's boiling. Reduce heat to low, cover, and simmer for 10 minutes until the dumplings are fluffy and cooked. Spoon syrup over the dumplings occasionally as they cook.
