Delicious cabbage rolls with beef, rice, and tomato sauce cooked in a slow cooker for a flavorful meal.
Ingredients:
  • 12 leaves cabbage
  • 1 pound extra-lean ground beef
  • 1 cup cooked white rice
  • 1 egg, beaten
  • 0.25 cup milk
  • 0.25 cup minced onion
  • 1.25 teaspoons salt
  • 1.25 teaspoons ground black pepper
  • 1 (8 ounce) can tomato sauce
  • 1 tablespoon brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
Instructions:
  • Bring a generously sized pot of water to a rolling boil. Quickly blanch cabbage leaves for 2 minutes, then drain.
  • Mix together the ground beef, cooked rice, egg, milk, onion, salt, and pepper in a large bowl. Place approximately 2 tablespoons of the mixture onto each cabbage leaf.
  • Wrap the filling with one end of the cabbage leaf, rolling and tucking the ends to secure the filling inside. Place the rolls in one layer in the slow cooker.
  • Combine tomato sauce, brown sugar, lemon juice, and Worcestershire sauce in a small bowl until well mixed. Drizzle over cabbage rolls.
  • Let it simmer gently for 8 to 9 hours under a cozy cover.
