Hearty chili dip combines canned chili, ground beef, and flavorful toppings for the perfect game day snack. Enjoy with crunchy corn chips.
Ingredients:
  • 1 (8-ounce) package cream cheese, softened
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1/4 cup sour cream, divided
  • 2 tablespoons canola oil
  • 1 pound 80/20 ground beef
  • 1 teaspoon kosher salt, plus more to taste
  • 2  cups prepared or store-bought chili with beans (from two 15-ounce cans chili with beans)
  • 4 ounces pre-shredded Mexican 4-cheese blend (about 1 cup)
  • 1 green onion, sliced
  • 1 plum tomato, chopped (about 1/2 cup)
  • 1/4 cup crispy fried onions (such as French’s)
  • Corn chip scoops (such as Fritos Scoops), for serving
Instructions:
  • Preheat your oven to 350°F.
  • Prepare the cream cheese base by combining cream cheese, onion powder, and 2 tablespoons of sour cream until well mixed. Spread the mixture into the bottom and sides of a 9-inch deep pie plate or 10-inch oven-safe skillet using a silicone spatula or the back of a spoon. Let it sit aside for later use.
  • Prepare the chili layer: Heat oil in a large nonstick skillet over medium-high heat. Cook ground beef and salt until browned, crispy, and moisture evaporates, 8 to 10 minutes. Drain cooked beef on a paper towel-lined plate. Keep skillet as is. Simmer chili in the skillet over medium-high heat. Remove from heat and stir in reserved beef. Season with salt to taste.
  • Bake the chili dip and serve: Spread the chili mixture over the cream cheese layer, then top with cheese. Bake until the cheese is melted and the dip is warmed through, approximately 20 minutes. Garnish with green onions, tomatoes, and crispy fried onions. Serve with Frito’s scoops and drizzle with the remaining 2 tablespoons of sour cream. Enjoy and don’t forget to rate the recipe!
