Cinnamon chip scones: easy, flavorful treat for cozy fall days.
Ingredients:
  • 0.75 cup butter
  • 3.25 cups all-purpose flour
  • 0.33333334326744 cup white sugar
  • 2.5 teaspoons baking powder
  • 0.5 pinch baking soda
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • 1 (10 ounce) package cinnamon baking chips
  • 2 tablespoons butter, melted
  • 2 tablespoons white sugar
Instructions:
  • Chill 3/4 cup of butter in the freezer for 1 hour until firm. Dice into cubes.
  • Heat your oven to a toasty 425 degrees F (220 degrees C).
  • In a large bowl, whisk together flour, 1/3 cup sugar, baking powder, baking soda, and salt. Add very cold cubed butter and use a pastry blender or your fingers to create coarse crumbs.
  • Make a well in the flour mixture, pour in the buttermilk, and gently mix until the dough is just moistened, then gently fold in the cinnamon chips.
  • Transfer dough onto a floured surface and knead briefly until not sticky. Divide into two portions, pat or roll each into a 7-inch circle. Brush with melted butter, sprinkle 1 tablespoon of sugar on each. Cut into 6 wedges, then arrange scones on a baking sheet.
  • Bake in the oven until golden brown, around 10-13 minutes. Serve warm.
