Delicious scones with zesty orange and cranberry flavors made with high-quality whole wheat flour.
Ingredients:
  • 1 cup Gold Medal™ whole wheat flour
  • 1 cup Gold Medal™ all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 teaspoons grated orange peel
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons cream of tartar
  • 3/4 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/3 cup cold butter, cut into 8 pieces
  • 1/3 cup milk
  • 1/4 cup orange juice
  • 1/2 cup sweetened dried cranberries
  • 1/3 cup powdered sugar
  • 2 to 3 teaspoons milk
Instructions:
  • Preheat oven to 350°F. Combine flours, 1/4 cup granulated sugar, orange peel, cream of tartar, baking soda, and salt in a large bowl. Use a pastry blender or 2 knives to cut in butter until mixture resembles fine crumbs. Gently fold in 1/3 cup milk, orange juice, and cranberries until dry ingredients are just moistened.
  • Place the dough on an ungreased cookie sheet and shape it into an 8-inch round. Cut the dough into 8 wedges without separating them.
  • Bake until golden brown, about 20-25 minutes. Let them cool for 5 minutes, then transfer to a cooling rack. Allow to cool for another 10 minutes before serving.
  • Combine powdered sugar and 2 to 3 teaspoons of milk in a small bowl until it reaches a drizzling consistency. Drizzle over warm scones and serve either warm or at room temperature.
