Create a delicious Japanese fried rice by combining soy sauce, sesame seeds, jasmine rice, and scrambled eggs.
Ingredients:
  • 2 cups jasmine rice
  • 2 cups chicken stock
  • 1.5 cups water
  • 4 tablespoons butter, divided, or more to taste
  • 2 large eggs, beaten
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 3 tablespoons sesame seeds, or to taste
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce (such as Kikkoman®), or to taste
  • 0.125 teaspoon salt
  • 0.125 teaspoon ground black pepper
Instructions:
  • In a medium saucepan, combine rice, chicken stock, and water. Bring to a boil, then cover and simmer on low heat for 15 to 20 minutes, or until tender and liquid is absorbed.
  • Take the mixture off the heat and whisk in 2 tablespoons of butter. Allow it to cool down to room temperature, approximately 30 minutes.
  • Heat vegetable oil in a skillet over medium heat until shimmering. Add eggs and scramble, stirring frequently with a spatula to break up large pieces into small, fluffy curds.
  • Combine the rice and eggs in a large mixing bowl, tossing to mix thoroughly.
  • In a large frying pan over medium-high heat, melt the remaining 2 tablespoons of butter. Add the rice mixture into the sizzling pan along with sesame seeds, 2 tablespoons of soy sauce, salt, and pepper. Stir frequently and cook for 8 minutes.
  • Adjust the flavor with additional butter or soy sauce to taste. Serve hot.
