Savor this quick, flavorful meaty pasta sauce that's perfect any night. Make a big batch to freeze for multiple meals. Enjoy in all your favorite Italian dishes!
Ingredients:
  • 2 lb lean (at least 80%) ground beef
  • 1 medium onion, chopped (1 cup)
  • 4 cloves garlic, finely chopped
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano leaves
  • 1/2 teaspoon pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes
  • 1 can (6 oz) Muir Glen™ organic tomato paste
  • 2 cans (28 oz each) Muir Glen™ organic fire-roasted crushed tomatoes
  • 1 cup Progresso™ beef-flavored broth (from 32-oz carton)
Instructions:
  • Heat a 5-quart Dutch oven over high heat. Cook beef for 6 to 8 minutes, stirring occasionally, until browned. Lower heat to medium, then add onion, garlic, oregano, salt, pepper, and pepper flakes. Cook for 4 to 5 minutes, stirring frequently, until onion is softened. Add tomato paste and cook for 3 minutes. Mix in crushed tomatoes and broth, bringing to a boil. Reduce heat to low and simmer uncovered for 20 minutes, stirring occasionally. Remove from heat and serve over pasta if desired.
  • To freeze: Chill sauce under cover for 30 to 40 minutes. Separate sauce into four 1-quart freezer containers; freeze for up to 2 months. To serve: Submerge frozen sauce container in hot water for about 5 minutes or until sauce releases easily into a saucepan. Cover and warm over low heat, stirring occasionally until heated through. Enjoy as desired.
