Prepare the rum raisin ice cream by soaking raisins in dark rum overnight. Stir into store-bought ice cream with a touch of nutmeg and freeze for a sophisticated dessert.
Ingredients:
  • 0.25 cup raisins
  • 0.25 cup dark rum
  • 1 quart vanilla ice cream
  • 0.125 teaspoon ground nutmeg
Instructions:
  • Combine raisins and rum in a small bowl, cover with plastic wrap, and let steep overnight.
  • Let the ice cream sit at room temperature for about 15 minutes until softened but not melted.
  • Combine ice cream, rum-soaked raisins, any extra rum, and nutmeg in a large bowl. Mix until ice cream is smooth and well blended, letting the rum soften the ice cream for easier mixing.
  • Transfer the flavored ice cream back into its carton and place it in the freezer for a minimum of 30 minutes before serving.
