Maple-glazed ham with apple cider, orange, cloves, and spices.
Ingredients:
  • 1 (6 pound) bone-in country ham
  • 30 whole cloves
  • 3 cups apple cider, or as needed
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 1 cup maple syrup
  • 2 tablespoons ground cinnamon
  • 1 tablespoon ground nutmeg
  • 2 teaspoons ground ginger
  • 2 tablespoons ground cloves
  • 1 tablespoon vanilla extract
  • 1 orange's peel
Instructions:
  • Insert whole cloves evenly into the ham, scoring the ham for easier insertion if desired. Place the ham in a slow cooker and pour in apple cider until the ham is two inches above the surface. Pack brown sugar on top of the ham, pressing into the cloves. Some may wash away in subsequent steps.
  • Liberally drizzle the ham with maple syrup. Spice up the apple cider with cinnamon, nutmeg, ginger, ground cloves, and vanilla. Toss in the orange peel. Fill the slow cooker with apple cider up to the fill line. Cover, set to Low, and cook for 8 to 10 hours.
