Quick homemade enchilada sauce bursting with authentic Mexican flavors, perfect for enchiladas or burritos. Ready in just 10 minutes!
Ingredients:
  • 0.25 cup vegetable oil
  • 0.25 cup New Mexico or California chili powder
  • 2 tablespoons self-rising flour
  • 1.5 cups water
  • 1 (8 ounce) can tomato sauce
  • 0.25 teaspoon ground cumin
  • salt to taste
Instructions:
  • In a skillet over medium-high heat, warm oil. Add chili powder and flour, lower the heat to medium, and cook until aromatic and slightly darkened, stirring constantly to avoid burning the flour, for about 1 minute.
  • Combine water, tomato sauce, cumin, garlic powder, and onion salt, stirring until smooth. Simmer over medium heat for about 10 minutes until slightly thickened. Season with salt to taste.
