Homemade extra spicy Sichuan hot chicken - a fiery and addictive dish inspired by fast-food chains. Watch out for the heat!
Ingredients:
  • 0.33333334326744 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 egg, beaten
  • 1 pound chicken breast tenderloins
  • 1 (8 ounce) jar chili bean sauce (such as Toban Djan®)
  • 0.25 cup vegetable oil
  • 4 cups vegetable oil
  • 2 tablespoons ground Sichuan peppercorns
Instructions:
  • In a spacious bowl, add the flour. In a shallow dish, beat the egg. Coat each piece of chicken first in flour, then in egg, and once more in flour before transferring to a plate. Repeat with the rest of the chicken. Allow the coated chicken to rest for 10 minutes.
  • In a large skillet over medium heat, warm up the chili bean sauce and 1/4 cup vegetable oil for 8 minutes, whisking occasionally.
  • In a large skillet, heat 4 cups of oil to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C. Fry chicken in batches for 4 minutes on each side until golden brown. Place on a paper towel-lined plate to drain.
  • Coat chicken tenders in the zesty chili bean sauce using tongs. Plate them up and generously sprinkle with fragrant ground Sichuan peppercorns. Serve hot and enjoy!
