Sweet roasted fennel, Italian turkey sausage, garlic, and cheese top this irresistible pizza.
Ingredients:
  • 1 fennel bulb, cut into 1/2-inch slices, fronds reserved
  • 1 small onion, cut into 1/2-inch slices
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 3 turkey Italian sausages, casings removed
  • 1 pound prepared pizza dough, or as needed
  • 0.5 cup pizza sauce
  • 1.5 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 2 cloves garlic, thinly sliced
Instructions:
  • Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C) and prepare a baking sheet by lining it with foil.
  • Coat fennel and onion slices in olive oil, then arrange them on the baking sheet.
  • Roast until golden in the preheated oven for 10 to 15 minutes, then remove. Increase oven temperature to 450 degrees F (230 degrees C).
  • Brown the sausage in a skillet over medium heat for about 5 minutes, stirring occasionally, until no longer pink.
  • On a lightly floured surface, roll out pizza dough, then transfer it to a pizza pan or clean baking sheet. Spread sauce over the dough and layer on mozzarella cheese followed by fennel, onion, sausage, and garlic slices.
  • Bake until the cheese is melted, about 15-17 minutes, then top with chopped fennel fronds for a flavorful finishing touch.
