Traditional Italian Christmas cookie filling, versatile for puff pastry. Store leftovers in fridge. Easily double the recipe.
Ingredients:
  • 1 pound dried figs
  • 1 orange, zested
  • 0.5 cup semisweet chocolate chips
  • 0.25 cup whiskey
  • 0.5 cup chopped walnuts
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 0.25 cup maple sugar
Instructions:
  • Trim fig stems using scissors and process in batches in a food processor until finely chopped.
  • In a non-stick pan, mix figs, orange zest, chocolate chips, whiskey, walnuts, maple syrup, and cinnamon. Heat on medium until chocolate is melted, stirring often. Let it cool.
