Try these delicious cream cheese cookies with natural preserves, a recipe handed down from my mother-in-law. Refrigerate for optimal freshness.
Ingredients:
  • 1 (8 ounce) package cream cheese, softened
  • 0.5 cup butter, softened
  • 0.5 cup shortening
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 0.5 cup any flavor fruit jam
Instructions:
  • In a mixing bowl, whip the cream cheese until light and fluffy. Mix in all ingredients, excluding the fruit preserves, and shape into a flat disk. Refrigerate overnight.
  • Flatten dough onto a lightly floured surface, and use a medium-sized glass to cut out circles.
  • Place 1/2 teaspoon of preserves in the center of each circle, then seal the edges tightly together.
  • Preheat the oven to 375 degrees F (190 degrees C) and bake for 15 to 17 minutes.
