Make gourmet flavored salts for quick and thoughtful gifts.
Ingredients:
  • 3 cups kosher (coarse) salt
  • 1 tablespoon grated lemon peel
  • 2 tablespoons fresh lemon juice
  • 1/4 cup finely chopped fresh rosemary leaves
  • 4 vanilla beans
Instructions:
  • 1. Preheat the oven to 200°F. Combine 1 cup of salt in a small bowl with lemon peel and juice. Toss to coat evenly. Spread the salt mixture on an ungreased cookie sheet and bake for 1 hour.
  • In another small bowl, mix 1 cup of salt with the rosemary until fully combined.
  • Split vanilla beans in half lengthwise and scrape out the flavorful seeds. Ditch the beans. In a separate small bowl, combine 1 cup of salt with the extracted vanilla seeds, rubbing them together until evenly mixed and no clumps remain.
  • Simply store each unique flavored salt in an airtight container at room temperature.
