Quick and easy baked cake donuts ready in under 30 minutes! Enjoy a dozen of these lightly spiced treats - plain, glazed, or cinnamon sugar-coated.
Ingredients:
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 0.75 cup white sugar
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 0.25 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 0.75 cup milk
  • 2 eggs, beaten
  • 1 tablespoon shortening
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup confectioners' sugar
  • 2 tablespoons hot water
  • 0.5 teaspoon almond extract
Instructions:
  • Preheat the oven to a cozy 325 degrees F (165 degrees C) and give the doughnut pan a gentle greasing.
  • In a large bowl, combine flour, sugar, baking powder, nutmeg, cinnamon, and salt. Add milk, eggs, shortening, and vanilla, then mix until well combined. Fill each doughnut cup about 3/4 full.
  • Bake the doughnuts in the preheated oven for 8 to 10 minutes until they spring back when touched. Let them cool briefly before taking them out of the pan.
  • Once the doughnuts have cooled, prepare the glaze by combining confectioners' sugar, hot water, and almond extract in a small bowl. Dip the doughnuts in the glaze before serving.
