Get festive with these colorful, edible candy canes that are fun for kids to make and perfect for Christmas decorating and snacking!
Ingredients:
  • 500 g fondant icing sugar
  • 1½ teaspoons peppermint essence
  • 1 teaspoon each of assorted natural gel food colourings
  • 100 g cornflour for dusting
Instructions:
  • Combine 4 tablespoons of water with the fondant icing sugar until smooth following packet instructions. Mix in the essence for extra flavor. Set 400g of fondant aside for the white base. Divide the remaining 100g into four 25g pieces and knead in your chosen colors until desired. Dust with cornflour and wrap unused fondant to prevent drying out. Roll 100g of white fondant into a 15cm log. Roll colored fondants into logs and layer around the white fondant. Twist, shape, and curl to form candy canes. Place on non-stick paper and let harden for 24 hours. Add ribbons or tags before enjoying.
