Football Cupcake Pull-Aparts

Create a touchdown-worthy football party cake with cupcake players.
Ingredients:
  • 1 box Betty Crocker™ Super Moist™ Yellow Cake Mix or 1 box Betty Crocker™ Super Moist™ Devil's Food Cake Mix
  • Water, vegetable oil and eggs called for on cake mix box
  • 2 tubs (16 oz) Betty Crocker™ Rich & Creamy Chocolate Frosting
  • 1/2 cup M&M's® chocolate candies
  • 1 tube (4.25 oz) Betty Crocker™ white decorating icing
Instructions:
  • Preheat the oven to 350°F (325°F for dark or nonstick pans) and line 24 regular-size muffin cups with paper baking cups.
  • Prepare and bake the cake mix according to the instructions on the box to make 24 cupcakes. Allow the cupcakes to cool in the pans for 10 minutes before transferring them to a cooling rack. Let them cool completely, which should take around 30 minutes.
  • Fill a decorating bag fitted with a large star tip (size #5) with frosting. Organize 15 cupcakes in the shape of a football. Pipe thick lines of frosting over the football shape. Use a spatula to spread frosting over the cupcakes. Add a decorative border of chocolate frosting around the edge of the football. Sprinkle M&M's™ chocolate candies on the border. Pipe laces with white icing. Frost and decorate the remaining cupcakes as desired, and serve them alongside the football-shaped cupcakes. Store loosely covered.
