Transform classic French onion soup mix into irresistible cheesy puffs using air fryer for a quick and delicious snack.
Ingredients:
  • 35g sachet salt-reduced French onion soup mix
  • 75g butter, chopped
  • 150g (1 cup) plain flour
  • 3 eggs, lightly whisked
  • 50g (1/2 cup) coarsely grated mozzarella cheese
  • 25g (1/3 cup) finely grated parmesan cheese
Instructions:
  • In a saucepan over medium heat, combine soup mix, butter, and 185ml (3/4 cup) water. Heat for 3-4 minutes until the butter melts and the mixture comes to a gentle boil. Remove from heat.
  • Stir flour into the butter mixture until fully combined. Cook the mixture on low heat while stirring for 1-2 minutes until it forms a ball and pulls away from the sides of the saucepan. Let it cool for 5 minutes before using.
  • Combine the egg and 1-2 tablespoons of warm water with the flour mixture. Mix until the dough comes away from the spoon and holds its shape. Gently fold in the mozzarella cheese.
  • Prepare the air fryer basket by lining it with trimmed baking paper. Spoon tablespoons of batter 5cm apart onto the paper. Sprinkle with about 1 tsp of parmesan cheese. Bake at 200C for 5 minutes, then reduce temperature to 160C and bake for an additional 12-15 minutes until golden and puffed. Serve immediately.
