Tangy cherry compote: Quick, easy summer dessert topping. Sweet & tangy.
Ingredients:
  • 0.75 cup water
  • 0.5 cup white sugar
  • 0.25 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 3.5 cups pitted tart cherries
  • 2 tablespoons water
  • 2 tablespoons cornstarch
Instructions:
  • In a saucepan, combine 3/4 cup of water, sugar, and cinnamon, bringing it to a gentle boil. Simmer until the sugar dissolves, about 3 to 4 minutes. Add cherries and return to a boil, then simmer until cherries soften, approximately 5 minutes.
  • In a small bowl, combine 2 tablespoons of water with cornstarch. Pour the mixture over the cherries in the saucepan and stir until thickened in 1 to 2 minutes. Allow it to cool for 10 to 15 minutes before transferring to a container and refrigerating.
