Tangy cranberry-orange sauce, a holiday essential.
Ingredients:
  • 0.5 cup orange juice
  • 0.5 cup cranberry juice
  • 0.33333334326744 cup white sugar
  • 1 (12 ounce) package fresh cranberries
  • 1 medium pear - peeled, cored, and diced
  • 2 tablespoons grated orange zest
  • 0.5 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 star anise
  • 1 pinch salt
  • 2 tablespoons orange marmalade
Instructions:
  • In a saucepan over medium-high heat, blend together the orange juice, cranberry juice, and sugar until it comes to a boil. Stir occasionally and cook for approximately 5 minutes.
  • Combine half of the cranberries, pear, orange zest, vanilla extract, star anise, and salt in the pot. Bring to a boil, then lower heat and let it simmer for 5 minutes. Stir in the rest of the cranberries and continue cooking until they burst and the mixture thickens, approximately 10 minutes, stirring frequently.
  • Take the sauce off the heat and mix in the orange marmalade before setting it aside. The sauce will thicken as it cools. Cover and refrigerate until serving.
