Game day cauliflower bites with sesame-hoisin sauce - irresistible crispy perfection!
Ingredients:
  • 1 cup tempura batter mix
  • 0.75 cup ice cold water
  • 0.25 cup hoisin sauce
  • 5 tablespoons sesame oil, divided
  • 2 tablespoons rice vinegar
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 1 teaspoon sesame seeds
  • 0.5 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 medium head cauliflower, cut into florets
  • 4 cups vegetable oil for frying, or as needed
Instructions:
  • Whisk together tempura mix and water until smooth. Place bowl in a larger bowl filled with ice cubes to maintain a cold temperature.
  • Combine the hoisin sauce, 2 tablespoons of sesame oil, vinegar, soy sauce, sesame seeds, and garlic powder in a small bowl.
  • Coat cauliflower in tempura batter and allow excess to drip off onto a plate.
  • In a medium saucepan over medium heat, mix vegetable oil and the remaining sesame oil. Heat until the temperature reaches 350 to 375 degrees Fahrenheit (175 to 190 degrees Celsius).
  • Fry cauliflower florets in batches until they are beautifully golden, about 4 to 6 minutes each. Place them on a paper towel-lined plate to drain.
  • Drizzle the hoisin mixture over the dish or serve it on the side for dipping.
