Crispy fried chicken with flavorful pan gravy. Classic comfort food.
Ingredients:
  • 0.5 cup milk
  • 1 egg, beaten
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 teaspoons garlic salt
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 0.25 teaspoon poultry seasoning
  • 1 (4 pound) whole chicken, cut into pieces
  • 3 cups vegetable oil
  • 1 cup chicken broth
  • 1 cup milk
Instructions:
  • Combine milk and egg in a medium bowl. Mix flour, garlic salt, paprika, pepper, and poultry seasoning in a resealable plastic bag. Add chicken to bag, seal, and shake to coat. Dip chicken in milk and egg mixture, then coat again in flour mixture. Save any leftover flour mixture for later.
  • - Heat oil in a large skillet until it reaches 365 degrees F (185 degrees C). Add the coated chicken and sear until golden on all sides. - Lower the heat to medium-low and simmer the chicken until tender, approximately 30 minutes. - Once done, take the chicken out of the skillet and let it drain on paper towels.
  • Leave only 2 tablespoons of the oil in the pan. Add 2 tablespoons of the flour mixture over low heat, stirring constantly for about 2 minutes. Pour in chicken stock, stirring to scrape browned bits. Mix in 1 cup of milk, bring to a boil over high heat while stirring. Lower heat and simmer for 5 minutes. Serve hot with chicken.
