Fried Mushrooms with Dipping Sauce

Crispy garlic Parmesan breaded mushrooms with savory dipping sauce, reminiscent of a favorite restaurant appetizer.
Ingredients:
  • 1 cup bread crumbs
  • 2 tablespoons grated Parmesan cheese
  • 0.5 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 0.5 teaspoon dried parsley
  • salt to taste
  • 1 large egg
  • 12 medium mushrooms
  • 2 cups oil for frying, or as needed
  • 3 tablespoons tartar sauce
  • 2 cloves garlic
Instructions:
  • Mix together the bread crumbs, Parmesan cheese, garlic powder, parsley, and salt in a resealable plastic bag.
  • In a large bowl, whisk the egg until frothy. Add mushrooms and gently toss until they are thoroughly coated.
  • Coat each mushroom with bread crumb mixture by placing it in a bag, sealing it, and shaking. Repeat for the rest of the mushrooms.
  • Preheat oil in a deep fryer or large saucepan to 375°F (190°C). Fry mushrooms until golden brown, approximately 5 minutes. Transfer to a paper towel-lined plate to cool and drain excess oil.
  • In a small bowl, combine tartar sauce and crushed garlic, mixing thoroughly. Serve as a delicious dip with fried mushrooms.
