Indulge in deliciously moist and chewy frosted cookies, loaded with fruit and nuts. Yum!
Ingredients:
  • 1/4 cup butter or margarine, softened
  • 3/4 cup packed brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup sour cream
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla
  • 1 egg
  • 1 1/4 cups Gold Medal™ all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/4 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 package (8 ounces) chopped dates
  • 1/2 cup chopped nuts
  • 1/2 cup butter or margarine
  • 3 cups powdered sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 3 to 4 tablespoons hot water
Instructions:
  • Preheat the oven to 400°F and lightly grease a cookie sheet. In a large bowl, cream together 1/4 cup of butter, brown sugar, sour cream, 1/2 teaspoon vanilla, and the egg. Mix in the flour, baking soda, and baking powder. Gently fold in the dates and nuts.
  • Place teaspoonfuls of dough onto a baking sheet. Bake for around 10 minutes or until golden brown. Transfer the cookies from the baking sheet to a wire rack. Allow the cookies to cool completely, approximately 1 hour.
  • In a 2-quart saucepan, gently melt 1/2 cup of butter. Whisk in powdered sugar and 1 teaspoon of vanilla until well combined. Gradually mix in water, 1 tablespoon at a time, until the frosting reaches a smooth, spreadable consistency. Frost the cooled cookies with the Vanilla Frosting.
