Nutty chocolate oatmeal bars with sliced almonds and almond extract for extra flavor.
Ingredients:
  • 1 cup butter, softened
  • 2 cups packed brown sugar
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 0.5 teaspoon almond extract
  • 3 cups quick-cooking oats
  • 2.5 cups all-purpose flour
  • 0.5 cup sliced almonds
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 2 cups semisweet chocolate chips
  • 1 (14 ounce) can sweetened condensed milk
  • 2 tablespoons butter
Instructions:
  • Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C) for the perfect baking temperature.
  • In a large bowl, cream together 1 cup of butter and brown sugar until smooth. Mix in eggs, 2 teaspoons of vanilla extract, and 1/2 teaspoon of almond extract until well combined. In a separate bowl, combine oats, flour, sliced almonds, baking soda, and 1 teaspoon of salt. Gently fold the dry mixture into the butter mixture until just combined. Spread 2/3 of the batter onto a 10x15-inch rimmed baking sheet.
  • Combine chocolate chips, condensed milk, 2 tablespoons of butter, and 1/2 teaspoon of salt in a saucepan. Heat over medium heat until chocolate is melted, about 5 minutes, stirring occasionally. Remove from heat and stir in 2 teaspoons of vanilla extract and 1/2 teaspoon of almond extract. Spread chocolate mixture over oat batter in a baking sheet. Top with remaining oat batter.
  • Bake in the oven until a toothpick comes out clean, about 20-25 minutes.
