Decadent chocolate cookies that taste like brownies. Avoid overmixing dough for tender cookies.
Ingredients:
  • 0.75 cup butter
  • 0.75 cup white sugar
  • 0.25 cup packed brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 (1 ounce) squares unsweetened chocolate
  • 0.25 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup chopped walnuts
Instructions:
  • Cream the butter until light, then gradually mix in the white and brown sugar until creamy and light. Incorporate the egg and vanilla.
  • In a small, heavy saucepan, gently melt the chocolate over very low heat. Stir the melted chocolate into the butter mixture.
  • Gradually incorporate the salt and flour until well combined. Add walnuts, if desired.
  • Roll the dough into walnut-sized balls and press your thumb into each one to make an indentation. Bake at 350 degrees F (180 degrees C) for 10 to 12 minutes until cooked. Allow to cool on a rack.
