Cheesy Garlic Bread Topped Creamy Potato Bake: A perfect combination of comfort food in every bite.
Ingredients:
  • 1.8kg desiree potatoes
  • 1 brown onion, halved, thinly sliced
  • 375ml (1 1/2 cups) pouring cream
  • 300g piece of day-old sourdough bread (see note)
  • 125g butter
  • 4 garlic cloves, crushed
  • 1 tsp all purpose seasoning
  • 62.50 ml chopped fresh continental parsley leaves, plus extra, to sprinkle
  • 40g (1/2 cup) grated cheddar
Instructions:
  • Preheat your oven to 180C (160C fan forced) and lightly grease a 2.5L (10 cup) ovenproof dish.
  • Thinly slice the potatoes into 5mm slices and layer them with onions in the dish, seasoning generously with salt and pepper. Pour the cream over the layers, cover tightly with foil, and bake for 1 hour until potatoes are almost tender.
  • Using a serrated knife, cut the bread into 2cm pieces and place them in a large bowl. In a small saucepan over medium heat, melt the butter with garlic until foamy. Pour the mixture over the bread, add the all-purpose seasoning and parsley, then toss everything together until well combined.
  • Take the potato bake out of the oven and remove the foil. Spread the bread mixture over the top and bake for 15 minutes. Afterward, sprinkle cheese on top and continue baking for another 15 minutes until the bread and cheese turn golden. Let it cool for 10 minutes before serving, and garnish with extra parsley.
