Egg-free German chocolate cake frosting with simple ingredients - buttery, sweet, and nutty topping with coconut and pecans.
Ingredients:
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 0.5 cup milk, or more as needed
  • 0.5 cup butter
  • 1 cup flaked coconut, or more to taste
  • 0.25 cup chopped pecans, or more to taste
Instructions:
  • In a large saucepan, combine brown sugar, milk, and butter. Bring to a gentle boil, stirring occasionally. Cook until the icing thickens and reaches 240-245 degrees F (115-118 degrees C) on a candy thermometer, about 10-15 minutes.
  • Take the mixture off the heat and gently fold in the shredded coconut and chopped pecans. If the icing appears too thick, simply adjust the consistency by adding a splash of milk until it reaches your preferred thickness.
