Crunchy oat topping enhances moist chocolate cake, perfect for on-the-go snacking.
Ingredients:
  • 1/2 box Betty Crocker™ Delights Super Moist™ German Chocolate Cake Mix (about 1 2/3 cups)
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 1/4 cup vegetable oil
  • 2 eggs
  • 1/2 cup packed brown sugar
  • 1/3 cup Gold Medal™ all-purpose flour
  • 1/3 cup quick-cooking or old-fashioned oats
  • 1/4 cup butter or margarine, softened
  • 3/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
Instructions:
  • Preheat oven to 350°F (325°F for dark or nonstick pan) and generously coat the bottom of an 8- or 9-inch square pan with baking spray that includes flour.
  • In a large bowl, use an electric mixer to blend cake ingredients on low for 30 seconds, then on medium for 2 minutes, scraping the bowl occasionally. Transfer the batter into the pan.
  • Combine topping ingredients in a medium bowl until they form a crumbly mixture, using your hands if needed. Evenly sprinkle over the batter in the pan.
  • Bake the cake for 31 to 37 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean. Allow it to cool for at least 30 minutes before serving. Enjoy warm or cool, and store loosely covered.
