Tangy cabbage pasta side dish for all cabbage and pasta enthusiasts.
Ingredients:
  • 1 cup uncooked rotini or other spiral pasta (3 to 4 ounces)
  • 2 teaspoons vegetable oil
  • 4 cups shredded red cabbage (12 ounces)
  • 1 tablespoon packed brown sugar
  • 2 tablespoons white vinegar
  • 1/2 teaspoon caraway seed
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • Freshly ground pepper
Instructions:
  • Prepare pasta according to package instructions, then drain.
  • As the pasta simmers, warm oil in a 10-inch nonstick skillet on medium heat. Sauté cabbage in the oil for 2 minutes, stirring occasionally. Add brown sugar, vinegar, and caraway seed. Cover and cook for approximately 5 minutes until cabbage reaches a crisp-tender texture, stirring occasionally.
  • Combine the pasta with the cabbage mixture and heat until thoroughly warmed. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
