Mom's rich giblet gravy with savory meat and hard-boiled eggs for a flavorful holiday sauce.
Ingredients:
  • 1 quart water
  • giblets from a turkey
  • 0.25 medium yellow onion
  • 1 stalk celery, cut in half
  • 1 cube chicken bouillon
  • 0.5 teaspoon ground black pepper
  • 2 (14.5 ounce) cans chicken broth
  • 4 large hard-cooked eggs, chopped
  • 2 tablespoons cornstarch
Instructions:
  • Collect all ingredients for the recipe.
  • In a 2-quart saucepan, gently simmer water, giblets, onion, celery, bouillon, salt, and pepper for 40 to 50 minutes until flavors meld beautifully.
  • Place the liver and neck onto a cutting board. Chop the meat and set it aside. Remove the celery, onion, neck muscle, and any other giblets.
  • Place the chopped liver and neck meat back into the saucepan along with the chicken broth and chopped eggs. Cook everything over medium heat.
  • Combine the milk and cornstarch in a small bowl, then pour it gradually into the saucepan.
  • Lower the heat and continue to stir until the gravy has achieved a thick consistency, which should take about 3 to 5 minutes.
  • Serve and relish while hot!
