Elevate classic toffee apples with a modern twist of ginger and sesame seeds.
Ingredients:
  • 1 x 15g pkt sesame seeds
  • 1L (4 cups) iced water
  • 2 granny smith apples, peeled, cored, each cut into 8 wedges
  • 300g (1 1/3 cups) caster sugar
  • 100ml water, extra
  • 23.00 gm vegetable oil
Instructions:
  • Prepare a baking tray with a layer of baking paper and sprinkle sesame seeds over it. Fill a bowl with ice water and put flour on a plate. Gently coat the apple in the flour, ensuring to shake off any excess.
  • In a saucepan over medium-high heat, mix sugar, extra water, oil, and ginger. Stir occasionally until the sugar dissolves. Boil, then simmer for 12-15 minutes until golden brown. Remove from heat and dip apple pieces in toffee using metal tongs, then in iced water.
  • Transfer the ginger toffee apples to the prepared tray and coat them with sesame seeds. Enjoy immediately.
