Indulge in a delightful pear ginger cake with a sweet caramelized finish.
Ingredients:
  • 0.33333334326744 cup butter
  • 0.25 cup molasses
  • 0.25 cup brown sugar
  • 0.75 teaspoon ground ginger
  • 20 ounces canned pear halves, drained
  • 1 cup white sugar
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 0.5 teaspoon salt
  • 0.66666668653488 cup milk
  • 0.33333334326744 cup butter, softened
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 egg
Instructions:
  • Preheat oven to a toasty 350 degrees F (175 degrees C).
  • In a 9-inch square pan, place 1/3 cup of butter and let it melt in the preheated oven for about 5 minutes.
  • Combine the rich flavors of molasses, brown sugar, and ginger with melted butter. Then elegantly place the pears cut-side down over the luscious mixture.
  • Combine and sift flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt into a bowl. Mix in milk, 1/3 cup butter, and vanilla extract, beating with an electric mixer until smooth for about 2 minutes. Incorporate egg until combined for about 2 minutes. Pour the batter evenly over pears.
  • Bake in the preheated oven for 40 to 50 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean. Let it cool in the pan for 5 minutes.
  • Loosen the edges of the cake with a knife, then confidently invert a plate over the pan and flip the cake gently.
