Surprise Mom with homemade heart-shaped gingerbread cookies this Mother's Day!
Ingredients:
  • 80g brown sugar
  • 300g plain flour
  • 2.50 gm bicarb of soda
  • 5.00 gm ground ginger
  • 90g butter
  • 125g golden syrup
  • 5cm biscuit cutter (heart or star shape)
  • Prepared icing
Instructions:
  • In a bowl, sift together the flour, baking soda, and ginger. Meanwhile, in a saucepan, combine the butter, sugar, and golden syrup. Cook on low heat until the butter melts and the sugar dissolves. Allow the mixture to cool.
  • Combine the syrup with the flour mixture until fully incorporated. Knead the dough until smooth, then cover with plastic wrap and chill for 30 minutes.
  • 1. Preheat the oven to 180°C and line two baking trays with non-stick baking paper. 2. Roll out the dough on a lightly floured surface to a thickness of 5mm. 3. Cut out shapes and place them carefully onto the prepared trays. 4. Bake for 8 minutes.
  • Allow the biscuits to cool on the trays for 5 minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.
