Gingerbread and Apple Loaf

One pan apple spice cake with golden syrup, brown sugar, and fall spices for easy cleanup.
Ingredients:
  • 0.75 cup golden syrup
  • 0.75 cup water
  • 0.75 cup butter
  • 0.5 cup brown sugar
  • 2 apples, peeled, or more to taste
  • 2.25 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1.5 teaspoons baking soda
  • 1.5 teaspoons ground ginger
  • 1.5 teaspoons ground allspice
Instructions:
  • Preheat your oven to a toasty 325 degrees F (165 degrees C) and generously butter either 1 large loaf pan or 2 smaller ones.
  • In a saucepan, gently heat syrup, water, butter, and sugar until butter and sugar just melt. Remove from heat and stir thoroughly.
  • Grate apples directly into the pan. Sift flour, baking soda, ginger, and allspice into the batter and gently mix until just combined. Pour the batter into the prepared pan(s) without overmixing.
  • Bake in the preheated oven for about 35 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center of each loaf comes out clean.
