Enhance cookie flavor with rum extract in both dough and drizzle for a decadent treat.
Ingredients:
  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 cup butter or margarine, softened
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla
  • 2 teaspoons rum extract
  • 1 egg
  • 2 1/4 cups Gold Medal™ all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 2 tablespoons butter or margarine, melted
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 1 teaspoon rum extract
  • 1 tablespoon water
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg, if desired
Instructions:
  • Preheat the oven to 350°F (or to 325°F if using a dark or nonstick cookie sheet). In a large bowl, use an electric mixer to beat granulated sugar and 1 cup of butter until fluffy. Add vanilla, 2 teaspoons of rum extract, and the egg, and continue mixing until smooth. Finally, blend in the flour and 1 teaspoon of nutmeg.
  • Take 1/4 of the dough and load it into the cookie press. Create your desired shapes on an ungreased cookie sheet.
  • Bake until edges are lightly browned, for about 6 to 10 minutes. Let cool for 1 minute, then transfer from cookie sheet to cooling rack.
  • Combine all glaze ingredients in a small bowl, stirring until smooth and drizzle-worthy. Transfer the mixture to a small plastic bag, snip a tiny corner off, and drizzle over cookies. Sprinkle 1/2 teaspoon nutmeg on top before the glaze sets.
