Tangy orange cream scones made with Gold Medal® flour.
Ingredients:
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 2 cups Gold Medal™ all-purpose flour
  • 1/3 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 tablespoons chopped crystallized ginger
  • 1 tablespoon grated orange peel
  • 1/2 cup cold butter or margarine, cut into small pieces
  • 3/4 cup whipping cream
  • 2 tablespoons fresh orange juice
  • 2 tablespoons whipping cream
  • 1/2 cup powdered sugar
  • 3 to 4 teaspoons milk or whipping cream
Instructions:
  • Preheat your oven to 425°F and prepare a cookie sheet with parchment paper.
  • Combine flour, granulated sugar, ginger, baking powder, orange peel, and salt in a large bowl. Incorporate butter using a pastry blender or two knives until mixture resembles fine crumbs. Gently mix in 3/4 cup whipping cream and orange juice until a soft dough forms.
  • Gently shape dough into a 7-inch circle on floured surface. Cut into 8 wedges and arrange them 2 inches apart on a cookie sheet. Brush the dough with 2 tablespoons of whipping cream for a golden finish.
  • Bake for 15 to 18 minutes, or until golden brown. Combine powdered sugar and milk in a small bowl until a thin drizzling consistency is achieved. Drizzle over warm scones before serving.
